Hubby and I were giddy during the check in process. When we’ve got that nervous energy we make each other laugh with mocking, joke-telling or other 5th-grade-level antics.

Still in Miami, we were among the first in line to board. It’s not like we were excited to stay a moment longer at the haunted Lexington Hotel. We took the obligatory before-cruise picture with the faux background of paradise and then, it was on to the boat.

The entrance floor looked a bit like Las Vegas casino meets Galleria. There was a man belting out showtunes behind a baby grand piano that was in the middle of a full bar. All of the staff was encouraging us to go on the 9th floor for lunch. Being the rebels that we are, we went exploring the boat. The Carnival Destiny has a quaint coffee shop, crazy loud and smoky casino, wine bar (I’m sure we’ll be on a first-name basis soon), a couple restaurants, and then there’s the pools, a waterslide, and other fun.

While chillin’ in this sitting area, a chap walked up to us and he looked so much like Harry Potter that his nametag read Harry. (His real name was Josh.) In his thick Hogwarts-tinged accent, he asked if we wanted to play trivia.

Heh, heh. Hubby and I are obnoxiously competitive and love a good round of trivia. There were three teams, us, then six women from a girls-only trip, and then a pair of nerdy girls.

Being from England, he asked a fair amount of questions relating to his motherland. This gave us an advantage since my sister-in-law and her family live in England.

Once it was all over, we tallied the results and there was a tie between the girls-only trip and us. Poor Harry, he rubbed his scar forehead and said: I’ve never had a tie before.

I wanted the trophy and those women had been embarrassingly flirtatious with him, that I figured he’d give the lone trophy to them.

“You know you have more than one trophy in the back,” I said. “Go and get us one that way each team gets a prize.”

He rubbed his scar, was Voldemort near?

“I’ll be right back.” He quickly disappeared. (Invisibility cloak?) When he emerged he graciously handed me our well-earned prize:
