Getting onstage with Queen Latifah at BlogHer
Guess who is going to share the stage today with Queen Latifah? Oh yeeeaaahhh baby. Me.
I am so excited, it’s ridiculous. It’s for the BlogHer13 conference where I was chosen as one of the Voices of the Year
. My piece was picked as one that will be read at the evening keynote.
To say I’m nervous is an understatement. Actually I was fine about reading in front of the large audience, but when I found out that Queen Latifah was hosting the event I started to feel the butterflies.
The Queen is going to hear words that I’ve strung together. Whollycheeseballs. Queen Latifah has long been someone I’ve looked up to. I remember hearing Ladies First when I was in middle school and it struck a chord with me.
A female rapper, owning her strength and being a proud woman was inspiring. It is inspiring. She seems to be fearless in trying new things and I love it.
So tonight will definitely be a new thing, wish me luck. I’ll be sure to tell you how it went.
