A Snapshot from This Woman Trying To Juggle It All

So I, along with millions others, have read Ann-Marie Slaughter’s piece in the Atlantic entitled “Why Women Still Can’t Have It All.” I’m not going to pontificate on whether indeed we can have it all. (That hearty exchange is on my Facebook page.)

I will say though today felt like a struggle to juggle it all. The day was by no means bad, it was just tough. Not single-mother-working-three-jobs-to-feed-her-kids tough, but it also wasn’t a walk in the park. Here’s a day in the … Read more ...

Culture Contrast: Norway’s support of working families and then there’s… U.S.

I think us Americans could take a few pages from the Norwegian playbook, especially when it comes to families.

Trying to get a Girls Night Out going seemed … Read more ...

Forgetting to Exercise My Right To Vote

I looked at the clock. It was 6:55 p.m. and I still hadn’t voted today. Not because I was turned off by the candidates, the barrage of abusive political ads and empty promises.

I simply lost track of time.

I got up this morning, whirred around the house to get everyone ready for school.  The family headed out the door and I made a mental note to vote on the way home. I was pretty aware of the issues and who I wanted for what … Read more ...
